About this artwork
This piece was created as part of the México series of the Nomad Project. The Nomad Project is an ongoing portfolio of works painted over a number of months in situ at various different locations around the world with the goal to capture the energy of each place. This particular work was inspired by the colourful houses and store fronts that coexist with ancient ruins from thousands of years ago.

« My artwork was born from my experiences as a security scientist and is a reflection of my ongoing struggle with the nature of humankind and what it means to be human. »
Jordan J. Plotnek is an experienced Australian-Brazilian painter with international exposure. Working within abstract expressionism he gains inspiration from his scientific research and nomadic travels to investigate the nature of humanity; particularly in response to pressing contemporary issues such as international security, climate change, and globalisation. Plotnek's work treads the line between captivating and uncomfortable, luring the viewer in and provoking them to engage with their own psyche and question the world around them.
