About this artwork
This piece was painted using charcoal and acrylic with a metallic bronze finish and intricate vertical textures. The painting has a subtle reflective quality that interacts with dancing shadows caused by the textural detail, changing the depth and complexity of the painting based on the ambient light. The piece works perfectly in a room with a window to allow the painting to evolve and reveal itself as the light of day repeatedly fades to a soft…
evening glow. It also enhances candlelight and fireplaces, with subtle reflections and shadows that play with the flickering warmth of the open flame. The painting comes on unstretched environmentally sustainable gallery canvas, ready for stretching and framing.

« My artwork was born from my experiences as a security scientist and is a reflection of my ongoing struggle with the nature of humankind and what it means to be human. »
Jordan J. Plotnek is an experienced Australian-Brazilian painter with international exposure. Working within abstract expressionism he gains inspiration from his scientific research and nomadic travels to investigate the nature of humanity; particularly in response to pressing contemporary issues such as international security, climate change, and globalisation. Plotnek's work treads the line between captivating and uncomfortable, luring the viewer in and provoking them to engage with their own psyche and question the world around them.
