About this artwork
Inspired by the colourful streets of Sayulita, this piece was created in Mexico during the COVID-19 lockdown using whichever colours were available whilst shops were closed. The multitude of different coloured interlocking shapes are symbolic representations of the various peoples and countries that were affected by the sudden wave of panic created by the pandemic. The work speaks to the fact that we all need to work together to beat this.

« My artwork was born from my experiences as a security scientist and is a reflection of my ongoing struggle with the nature of humankind and what it means to be human. »
Jordan J. Plotnek is an experienced Australian-Brazilian painter with international exposure. Working within abstract expressionism he gains inspiration from his scientific research and nomadic travels to investigate the nature of humanity; particularly in response to pressing contemporary issues such as international security, climate change, and globalisation. Plotnek's work treads the line between captivating and uncomfortable, luring the viewer in and provoking them to engage with their own psyche and question the world around them.
