About this artwork
Rich metallic bronze contrasts against textured earthy tones in this visual commentary on modern society's unbounded environmental destruction. Throughout time humankind has constructed fearful myths of the torturous underworld, which ironically we tend to fear more than the very real and impending effects of climate change. Marrying the micro to the macro, this work conjures images of intricate wooded bark as well as a hellish landscape of burning…
forestry.

« My artwork was born from my experiences as a security scientist and is a reflection of my ongoing struggle with the nature of humankind and what it means to be human. »
Jordan J. Plotnek is an experienced Australian-Brazilian painter with international exposure. Working within abstract expressionism he gains inspiration from his scientific research and nomadic travels to investigate the nature of humanity; particularly in response to pressing contemporary issues such as international security, climate change, and globalisation. Plotnek's work treads the line between captivating and uncomfortable, luring the viewer in and provoking them to engage with their own psyche and question the world around them.
