About this artwork
Part of the Maritime series, this work consists of thousands of textured streaks blending cloudy whites and greys with deep ocean blues in an abstraction representing the sea that serves as a means for global transportation and trade. The sky and ocean tones are separated by a bold textured band of semi-fluorescent 'international orange' to represent the ships and dockyards that alter natural seaside vistas around the world. This piece is named after…
the Port of Vancouver in Canada; the original source of inspiration for the series.
The sides are fully painted so it can be hung framed or unframed according to preference.

« My artwork was born from my experiences as a security scientist and is a reflection of my ongoing struggle with the nature of humankind and what it means to be human. »
Jordan J. Plotnek is an experienced Australian-Brazilian painter with international exposure. Working within abstract expressionism he gains inspiration from his scientific research and nomadic travels to investigate the nature of humanity; particularly in response to pressing contemporary issues such as international security, climate change, and globalisation. Plotnek's work treads the line between captivating and uncomfortable, luring the viewer in and provoking them to engage with their own psyche and question the world around them.
