About this artwork
This piece is an expression of the deep, almost painful, longing one experiences for a distant or lost lover. This feeling is eluded to in the Portuguese word "saudade". The painting has a deep texture consisting of layered streaks of red acrylic, which build up to resemble something akin to muscle tissue in the heart.

« My artwork was born from my experiences as a security scientist and is a reflection of my ongoing struggle with the nature of humankind and what it means to be human. »
Jordan J. Plotnek is an experienced Australian-Brazilian painter with international exposure. Working within abstract expressionism he gains inspiration from his scientific research and nomadic travels to investigate the nature of humanity; particularly in response to pressing contemporary issues such as international security, climate change, and globalisation. Plotnek's work treads the line between captivating and uncomfortable, luring the viewer in and provoking them to engage with their own psyche and question the world around them.
