About this artwork
This painting is part of a project that reviews how the iconography of Caspar D. Friedrich has influenced cinema. I found my reference in films, not in Caspar Friedric art; this creates a round trip from painting to cinema and from cinema to painting. I intend to get back to painting what cinema has taken from it.
« With my artwork, I seek the recovery of the peace and calm longed for so much in our frenetic world. »
José Antonio Ochoa is an award-winning artist based in Spain whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in England, Japan, and Mexico. Fusing realism with the figurative, his "silent" works endeavor to recover the intimacy of a gaze, inviting the contemplation of viewers. In his artistic process, Ochoa most often creates with oils on linen or synthetic board.
