About this artwork
“Broken Heart” is part of the “Heart of Lava” series, inspired by the artist’s trip to Iceland.
The piece captures the raw, untamed beauty of Icelandic landscapes, evoking the volcanic terrain and emotional resonance of the artist’s experience. The composition features a dynamic interplay of textures and materials, with layers of paper, earthy tones, and a central element resembling volcanic rock. The rough, organic texture of the central form contrasts… with the softer, muted background, creating a sense of depth and movement.
The use of recycled and found materials, a hallmark of my work that adds an element of sustainability to the piece, reflecting the connection with nature and innovative approach to art.
The artwork invites the viewer to explore the interplay between the elemental forces of nature and the emotional landscapes they inspire, embodying the spirit of Iceland’s volcanic heart.
My work is based on the transformation of the forgotten and discarded. As an artist based in Valencia, Spain, I have spent decades exploring the boundaries of painting, and in recent years I have discovered a powerful new language in abstract collage. I am drawn to materials with a history: old papers, industrial remnants, fragments of cardboard; each with its own silent narrative. Through a process that balances chance and precision, I integrate these elements into layered compositions, where texture and materiality evoke the geological and the organic.
Sustainability is fundamental to my practice. By rescuing and reusing materials, I seek to raise awareness about our relationship with nature and the everyday objects we often overlook. My collages are not mere visual explorations; they are meditations on memory, transformation, and the beauty found in what others discard.
