Metal or steel is one of the hardest and most resistant materials we have. As a master of steel, I am used to feeling its hardness and strength and seeing that strength represented in the essence of metal sculptures. But with this new collection, I want to do the complete opposite, something even more complicated: to imbue it with sensitivity and deceive the viewer by showing a sculpture made of hard and resistant steel that looks like silk, that… looks like a sensitive and elegant piece, simple and delicate but at the same time visually powerful.
It's a stainless steel piece finished with reliefs and meticulous attention to detail. With these pieces, I aim for a more understated elegance and the desire to create a trompe l'oeil effect in the viewer's mind.
The piece creates a mirror effect that causes light to bounce and generate spectacular plays of light and shadow, resulting in a sculpture at the forefront of contemporary art.
« I understand art as a way of transmitting emotions through geometry. »
José Soler is a sculptor based in Spain whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Monaco, Italy, and France. Through each of his pieces, he endeavors to bring out the melody that lives within each of us. Soler cites the conversion of cold steel into sculpture as being his way of connecting with what is invisible to our eyes and what can only perceived with universal feelings.
