In this the first in my dancer series I tried to find the essence of a ballet dancer in a simple position.By use of a few lines and the color red I think I found her. « Artists must be true to themselves to produce, absent to the want of acceptance or the lure of the popular. »
Joseph Piccillo is a prize-winning artist based in the United States who has exhibited his paintings in Italy. Identifying his art as minimalistic, he also likens it to a type of color field painting. However, Piccillo's compositions are also organic in the fact that he relies on nature to provide his subject matter. While creating in an abstract manner, in his mind's eye, his pieces are realistic.
