About this artwork
Jovanitha painted a mini series on cooling devices entitled Summer Magic. She did them in oil, because she loves how it captures light and shines.
Her work is greatly influenced by pop art masters like Keith Haring or Roy Lichtenstein. She loves how they highlight the beauty of ordinary things with simple lines and bold colours. In this series, she has used only the three primary colours, red, blue and yellow as a tribute to Mondrian.
This Summer… Magic series was made during last summer's heatwave. She was obsessed by finding the coolest way to breeze out through this summer. Painting them was a way of paying tribute to these objects which make summer so pleasant.
