About this artwork
Jovanitha paints vintage appliances in bright bold colours. She doesn't choose the object. She lets herself get subdued by it, its shape and texture. She paints in oil, because she loves how it captures light and shines.
Her work is greatly influenced by pop art masters like Keith Haring or Roy Lichtenstein. She loves how they highlight the beauty of ordinary things with simple lines and bold colours. In this series, she has used only the three… primary colours, red, blue and yellow as a tribute to Mondrian.
This fantastic series was made during the first lockdown. She realised that she was surrounded by beauty. Beauty is everywhere for who, who takes the time to look. She hopes that her painting is a reminder to see the extraordinary in the ordinary.
