About this artwork
Amaterasu is a new eye in a series that expands the limits of human anatomy. Parts of the iris go beyond the established boundaries, representing that limits are meant to be transgressed. In this case, it represents a sun, specifically the deity Amaterasu (天照), the sun goddess in Japanese mythology and one of the principal deities of Shintoism. This series is painted with fluorescent paints that glow under black light or UV light.
