About this artwork
This is another painting in my Concrete Composition series and continues my work in Contemporary Geometric Hard Edge and Concrete ideology. Consisting of color blocks of orange, magenta, blues, greens, yellow, and tints of many other colors along with grays and black. Instead of using my usual thin lines of contrasting color, I have used rounded accents of metallic blue, copper, bronze, silver, blue and orange. Painted on archival cotton duck gallery… wrapped canvas with a 1 1/2 inch depth edge painted white. Wired on the back, ready to hang. Titled, dated and signed on the reverse.
« My intentions are to force a new dialogue inherent to abstraction that started in the early 1900s and continues to be relevant to this day. »
Juan Jose Hoyos Quiles is an American artist whose works have been exhibited in the United States. Fueled by his love of abstraction, he identifies as being an abstract, geometric, and hard-edge painter. Quiles'bold and minimalist compositions follow the visual codes of concrete and non-objective art. He likens his artistic process to a dance, where he continuously explores new steps between color and geometry.
