About this artwork
My art practice is based on exploration and experimentation. I do not adhere to a
recognizable style. Rather my method of producing work is informed and finds it's cohesiveness by the colors I use, the forms that I use such as the grid, stripes, triangles, solid blocks of colors, geometric shapes and minimalist tendencies.
I listen to music while I paint, usually jazz. I listen to musicians such as Pharaoh Sanders, Sonny Rollins, Charles Mingus,… Sarah Vaughan and Dave Brubeck. This painting is dedicated to Nina Simone's, Feeling Good, because that's exactly how I felt when I finished it.

Juan Jose Hoyos Quiles is an American artist whose works have been exhibited in the United States. Quiles'bold and minimalist compositions follow the visual codes of concrete and non-objective art. He likens his artistic process to a dance, where he continuously explores new steps between color and geometry.
