About this artwork
This is another painting in my Concrete Composition series and continues my work in Contemporary Geometric Hard Edge Minimalism. This vivid composition is a striking example of the power geometric abstraction can wield. Using bold and vibrant colors immediately captures the eye, drawing the viewer into a dance of shapes and shades. The interplay between the rectangles, squares, and semi-circles, each filled with a solid, contrasting color, creates… an engaging visual rhythm that keeps the gaze moving effortlessly across the canvas. This dynamic quality is one of the piece's strongest attributes, making it feel both structured and lively. The color palette is audacious and effective, combining bright and deep tones with more subdued pastels. This variation adds depth and interest, preventing the composition from feeling flat despite its geometric nature. This work is painted on a canvas panel and needs to be framed. Titled, dated, and signed on the reverse.
« My intentions are to force a new dialogue inherent to abstraction that started in the early 1900s and continues to be relevant to this day. »
Juan Jose Hoyos Quiles is an American artist whose works have been exhibited in the United States. Fueled by his love of abstraction, he identifies as being an abstract, geometric, and hard-edge painter. Quiles'bold and minimalist compositions follow the visual codes of concrete and non-objective art. He likens his artistic process to a dance, where he continuously explores new steps between color and geometry.
