About this artwork
Burgundy Fabric (2006) is an oil painting on linen in a horizontal format (92 x 65 cm) focused on a single motif: fabric. The depicted fragment, made of satin in an intense burgundy tone, unfolds in a complex arrangement of folds, curves, and reflections that articulate the entire composition.
The work is conceived as an observational study where light plays an essential role, revealing the visual and tactile richness of the fabric. The variations… between light and shadow generate depth and rhythm, organizing the pictorial space without the need for other elements.
The absence of narrative directs attention to materiality and form, allowing us to appreciate how the curves construct an almost sculptural structure within the plane. It is a precise exercise in light, texture, and composition, in which an everyday object is transformed into the absolute protagonist of a sober, balanced, and evocative image.
