“Energy XXXI” is a vertical sculptural installation from Juca Maximo’s acclaimed Energy Series. Within a monolithic black structure, two female figures emerge in flowing copper lines — one grounded and curved, the other suspended and reaching upward. Together, they symbolize the layered forces within us: ancestry and transcendence, gravity and aspiration.
The rigid architectural frame contrasts… with the gestural energy of the drawing, creating a visual tension between structure and movement, containment and freedom. It is a sculptural reflection on emotional inheritance and the power of rising through shared memory.
