About this artwork
In this piece, I intertwine vibrant paint threads to echo the untamed rhythms of nature reclaiming space.
The interplay of organic greens, flowing blues, and metallic silver reflects the ever-shifting balance between wild ecosystems and human intervention.
Inspired by the process of rewilding, this work embodies resilience, renewal, and the quiet yet powerful force of nature’s return. It invites reflection on our role in ecological restoration,… urging us to embrace a more harmonious coexistence with the land.
Are you drawn to being different? Choose an artwork that defies the rectangle, refuses to be labelled, and, absolutely, could never be accused of being flat.
The finished textile is given layers of a papier mâché skin on the reverse to enable the ripples to be held in place permanently.
The work is ready to hang.

Beyond the Expected
Julee Latimer is a UK-born contemporary artist based in Melbourne, Australia, creating sculptural wall-based artworks that sit between painting, sculpture and textile. Her practice transforms paint from a traditional medium into a material for tactile, three-dimensional forms that respond to changing light, revealing shifting depths, textures and perspectives.
Latimer established an international career as a sculptural mosaic artist before completing a Bachelor of Fine Art in Sculpture and Painting at Curtin University in 2019, leading to her current practice. She is also the author of Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing, USA, 2017).
Her work is held in private, corporate and permanent collections internationally, including Capella Sydney, Conrad Orchard Singapore and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, Chicago. Her practice continues to explore materiality, surface and spatial experience, challenging conventional expectations of painting.
