About this artwork
This work explores the human emotional landscape at the moment of first sensual experience. Inspired by the colors of spring lilacs, the painting depicts the delicate and positive emotions of budding love. It is an ode to that fleeting moment when a woman's innocence meets her first awareness of her own sensuality.
The work captures the ambivalence of being in love - the shyness of one's own feelings and withdrawal, and the simultaneous longing… that everyone has already felt when they first fell in love.

Julia Johannvordersielhorst works primarily with acrylic and spray paints, as well as unconventional tools, and brings an intuitive approach to her work.
