Sometimes I like to let go of my usual pursuit of maximum detail and allow watercolor to speak for itself.
In this painting, I wanted to leave more space, more light, and use just a few lines to define the form. I was searching for a balance between graphic clarity and the softness of watercolor, between precision and suggestion.
Watercolor has a wonderful ability to leave room for the viewer's imagination. Sometimes just a few brushstrokes can… tell as much as countless carefully painted details.
