I spent my childhood in northern Ukraine, amidst magnificent pine forests. We used to go gathering mushrooms and wild strawberries. There was an almost theatrical silence in the forest—until someone would call out, and the woods would erupt in a chorus of sound.

Julia Liubina
Ukraine
Julia Liubina is a contemporary Ukrainian painter, printmaker, and visual artist working in soft pastel, oil, and watercolor, rooted in deep academic training and an intuitive, personal approach. She masterfully employs abstraction, layering vibrant colors, and rhythmic gestures, with circles recurring as symbols of wholeness, freedom, and inner movement—often working on round canvases to enhance her visual language. Her artworks invite viewers into contemplative spaces, delicately expressing memory, silence, tension, and renewal, and offering a quiet emotional resonance that inspires introspection and connection.
