About this artwork
Rising Queen / Pace
This two-part work is cast on two stretcher frames, each measuring 120x60 cm. It can be hung either horizontally or vertically.
The queen awakens as a signal, a starting point, to transform into the true self.
Upright it looks like an opening fire flower, hung horizontally like a Big Bang; the speed of transformation is high.
Alternatively, the two canvases can be used side by side, although the expression would be completely… different.
The inner queen has awakened and is unstoppable in her speed.
The artwork was created by pouring lacquer over both canvases, then letting the lacquer drip onto one and swirling it over the other. This resulted in the deep lacquer-on-lacquer texture.
