About this artwork
What does the word 'rich' mean to you? This is a question I have been contemplating recently. It seems to be that the more we release our attachment to worldly riches, the sharper the world's natural riches become. Skyscapes have always been used in art and for good reason. Every day we are gifted with the most magnificent scenes and these are not to be taken for granted. Noticing them is, indeed, profoundly enriching.
The title comes from… a spiritual shift in my own self towards a more monastic outlook on riches and also references the musical composition by Alexandre Desplat.

« I love colour. I love formlessness. Within these two are freedom from overthinking and rationalising, which is our Western tradition. I paint to be: abstracts are generous, forgiving and healing. »
Julia Swaby is a passionate British painter with international exposure. Before becoming an artist, she taught Philosophy of Mind and Psychology for over fifteen years, until her passion for abstract painting surpassed her interest in academia. Working from the belief that color is life, she composes works that appear saturated in vivid color and free in their formlessness.
