About this artwork
Semi-abstract work of an underwater scene, created by building glazes. The perspective is meant to be looking up from underneath, the vague blue shadows possibly large fish or even boats. The sun is glinting through the water in the centre of the work.

« I love colour. I love formlessness. Within these two are freedom from overthinking and rationalising, which is our Western tradition. I paint to be: abstracts are generous, forgiving and healing. »
Julia Swaby is a passionate British painter with international exposure. Before becoming an artist, she taught Philosophy of Mind and Psychology for over fifteen years, until her passion for abstract painting surpassed her interest in academia. Working from the belief that color is life, she composes works that appear saturated in vivid color and free in their formlessness.
