About this artwork
The images in the SPACES series develop their spatial illusion from the play of light and shadow as well as translucent and opaque materials. Depending on the viewer's perspective, black, gray, red and white paper folds into architectural and landscape spaces. The different positioning of the papers relative to one another and their colored reflection result in different associative spaces.

Julia Tervoort is an exciting German photographer whose works have featured in exhibitions, prizes and publications throughout the country. Initially inspired to pursue an artistic path by the Bauhaus movement during her architectural studies, she became fascinated by the language of light and the art of shadow in perceptions of space and materiality. Her photographs propose the poetry of light in unique spaces and from thought-provoking perspectives, overall achieving a rich visual narrative.
