Totem Monster Series:
It gives birth to a monster named providence by mingling the perception of life's limitedness, fear and bravery, overcoming and… adaptation. And the energy that monster possesses gets back to us to face again with the primitive energy.
We have worshiped them for many years.
I draw the monster and its scenery in that sense.
I work on my pieces by looking at my monster and by getting on their backs to face larger providence and gaze, to resist, or sometimes to accommodate myself, and imagine myself finally being freed.
I believe the engraved energy in my drawings exists for real.

Junwon Lee is an award-winning artist based in South Korea whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in France and the United States. The semi-abstract figures reflected in his art are created with the automatism approach which translates his energy and objectified unconscious through totems. For Lee, "life is the battleground for beings and death is an obstacle muddled with truth and uncertainty". He refers to his distinctive artistic process as "summoning".
