Acrylic on canvas 80 x 80 cm
with color prints and canvas collages
Perception involves contradiction and repetition of visual experiences.
Through the assignment of colors, blue - as a carrier of cold, vastness, sky, space and background and yellow - as a carrier of warmth, light, intensity and closeness, a back and forth of the forms is created, which is created by placing and mixing the colors… together.
Starting with a blue and yellow color palette, an exploration of round and rectangular shapes emerged.
A yellow circle positioned centrally on the square supporting canvas is bordered halfway by shades of blue. The other half is initially framed by yellow/white tones, followed by shades of blue/gray in the outer area.
In both areas, these applications of paint are overlaid by rectangular canvas collages, each of which opens a window onto the lower canvas.
Jutta Stelter-Essig is an academically trained painter specializing in acrylic painting, with sketches and watercolors as important preparatory steps. She develops compositions on canvas through rhythmic areas of color, deliberately omitting details, and experiments with orientation and color arrangement, drawing on impressions from vacation trips. Her works convey a deep connection to the landscape and reflect interactions between external surroundings and inner experience, making her art vibrant and emotionally tangible.
