The painter and graphic artist Karen Koschnick studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts (HfbK Dresden) from 1998 to 2004. In 2002, she completed a guest study program at the Berlin-Weissensee Academy of Art under Prof. Dr. Manfred Zoller and Prof. Hanns Schimansky, and in 2003, she studied at the University of Cuenca and in Málaga, Spain. From 2008 to 2010, she was a master student of Prof. Elke Hopfe at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. Since 2014, she has been pursuing doctoral studies at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts under Prof. Dr. Michael Diers and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Scholz. She received her doctorate in July 2023 from the Hamburg University of Fine Arts.
In 2024 and 2025, she spent six weeks each in South Korea as an artist in residence, and in 2023 she spent six weeks in Wroclaw/Breslau in Poland together with her daughter.
