About this artwork
One of my last marinas. It is the shoreline in the town of Skagen, the northernmost tip of Jutland, where the waters between the North Sea and the Danish Straits meet and waves can be seen crashing on either side of the tip. The accumulated energy is such that people gathered with a small blanket on their shoulders and a hot coffee in their hands to watch the fantastic sunset. Typical houses painted yellow and with red tile roofs dot the shoreline…
and join in the golden light of June. The strong wind accentuated the wild character of the beach. An unforgettable afternoon.

Karen Kruse is a Spanish artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Denmark, Germany, and Greece. After years in her career in the restoration of older works of art, she decided to pursue her own artistic expression. Isolation is the central theme in her compositions, which, ironically, unites us all. Kruse feels that as much as we communicate, we are essentially alone, 'inside our skin'. Her bold portraits and landscapes are imbued with emotion.
