About this artwork
'Edge of Morning' came from the feeling of the first light of the day, when the air feels held, and everything is suspended between night and day. There’s a particular quiet in that moment I always want to stay in a little longer.
This painting grew out of that feeling rather than a fixed image. I worked slowly, letting the surface build in layers of mineral tones until the horizon began to appear almost on its own: soft, diffused, and slightly uncertain,… like it hasn’t fully decided what it will become yet.
It’s really about that in-between space for me, a pause. The kind of stillness that settles you.
It has a generous horizontal presence that works beautifully in living spaces, bedrooms, or entryways. It sits well above furniture, anchoring a room without feeling heavy, bringing a sense of calm openness.
