About this artwork
The "Tango Heroes" are my personal tango heroes, all of whom I've had the privilege of seeing perform live, and whose talent I want to honor with my portraits. Singer Marco Bellini co-founded the innovative Orquesta El Afronte in 2004, which has already performed at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. With their powerful sound, the musicians brought tango into the modern age. Today, Marco organizes the renowned Maldita Milonga and runs the Atroden Club,… which has been designated a "Place of Cultural Interest" by the city of Buenos Aires. He also works as a singer with orchestras such as La Juan D'Arienzo, Reyes Del Tango, and San Osvaldo, with whom he also tours. In his role as club manager, he arranged the first exhibition of my portraits in Buenos Aires, namely at the Atroden Club, where life-size reproductions of the paintings are currently on display.
Karin Lüders is a passionate painter with roots in the USA and Germany who, after studying communication design, dedicated herself entirely to oil painting. She combines photorealistic style and classic oil techniques with sensitive portraits, inspired by street art and graffiti from Buenos Aires, creating extraordinary compositions with meticulous attention to detail. Her paintings are deeply moving, blending tradition with modern dynamism and honoring the characters and emotions of her subjects with feeling and respect.
