Cronos unfolds as an expansive circular structure in which free, gestural strokes evoke the transforming silhouette of a crab. The concentrated, vibrant core radiates energy outward in forms that oscillate between anatomical suggestion and abstract motion.
The palette is built exclusively from deep black and a range of oranges—from earthy ochres to incandescent tones. The chromatic contrast creates a dramatic tension, where light… seems to emerge from within the figure itself, like a contained fire that expands.
Conceptual Reading:In this work, the crab serves as a metaphor for time. Its lateral movement recalls that time is not a straight path but an irregular flow—advancing, retreating, and transforming. The use of orange, charged with energy and vitality, set against the absolute black—symbol of the void and eternity—intensifies the idea of an endless cycle between creation and disappearance.

Karina Yacoubian is a visual artist whose abstract work explores the relationship between color and movement, alongside the balance of structure and freedom. Her compositions maintain a strong connection to the imaginary and the intuitive, unfolding at the intersection of geometry and gesture, order and emotion.
From an early age, the artist showed a deep interest in drawing, art history, and architecture—three languages that continue to define her creative universe. She studied Interior Design at ORT University in Montevideo, Uruguay, and later Architecture at the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Although academically trained in design and architecture, she is a self-taught painter, guided by curiosity, intuition, and a deeply personal sense of experimentation.
