A source of light and guardian of space, the Moon is a presence in constant transformation. This piece explores its enigmatic nature and its influence over the cycles of the earth and human nature. Four vertices emerge from the composition, representing the lunar phases—a geometric structure that invites the observer to appreciate the canvas from multiple points of view.
True to the series' minimalism, the work is built through the repurposing of… materials and the absence of pigments, allowing volume to serve as the primary language. Here, the projected shadows are not static; they shift with the intensity of light, turning the surface into a living body. Karina Yacoubian is a visual artist whose abstract work explores the relationship between color and movement, alongside the balance of structure and freedom. Her compositions maintain a strong connection to the imaginary and the intuitive, unfolding at the intersection of geometry and gesture, order and emotion.
From an early age, the artist showed a deep interest in drawing, art history, and architecture—three languages that continue to define her creative universe. She studied Interior Design at ORT University in Montevideo, Uruguay, and later Architecture at the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Although academically trained in design and architecture, she is a self-taught painter, guided by curiosity, intuition, and a deeply personal sense of experimentation.
