About this artwork
In Sea, the human figure emerges in a state of profound transition, as if shaped by elemental forces that exceed the body itself. The partially defined form unfolds through deep blue currents that evoke tides, depth, and a continuous dragging motion, while areas of intense red introduce a counterpoint of heat—an inner turbulence, a visceral pulse struggling to expand. The head— or what remains of it— dissolves like a silhouette carried by marine… wind, blurred by the friction between identity and disappearance. There is no face, no fixed outline: only a body existing at the threshold between water and fire, between calm and violence. The expansive white background acts as the series’ characteristic space of reinvention: a neutral territory where the figure transforms, fades, or is reborn. Here, white is not emptiness but potential— a horizon where form is about to emerge anew.
Sea captures the moment when the body becomes tide, when identity shifts with the force of an inner current.
« My work is marked by movement and color, in close relationship with my inner self, my imagination, and thoughts.
I want my art to reveal an inner universe of emotions and sensations - like an eternal dream. »
Karina Yacoubian is a visual artist whose abstract work explores the relationship between color and movement, alongside the balance of structure and freedom. Her compositions maintain a strong connection to the imaginary and the intuitive, unfolding at the intersection of geometry and gesture, order and emotion. From an early age, the artist showed a deep interest in drawing, art history, and architecture—three languages that continue to define her creative universe. She studied Interior Design at ORT University in Montevideo, Uruguay, and later Architecture at the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Although academically trained in design and architecture, she is a self-taught painter, guided by curiosity, intuition, and a deeply personal sense of experimentation.
