About this artwork
Metamorphosis functions as a visual record of the infinite changes we undergo as human beings, where identity is never a final destination but a constant process of shedding. In this work, the body becomes the stage for a struggle between who we were and who we are becoming; a representation of how the past and the known emerge at the base of the canvas through telluric tones, acting as an old skin that no longer contains us but still sustains us.… This shedding of the self captures the vulnerability that arises when abandoning certainties to face the uncertainty of the white space—the void that symbolizes what is to come. The female figure, in full organic torsion, represents that vital trance where we must sacrifice our rigidity to conquer a new lightness. By transforming heavy matter into ethereal plumage, the work suggests that true reinvention is not an erasure of the past, but a conscious evolution where we learn to release the gravity of our history to finally embrace the freedom
« My work is marked by movement and color, in close relationship with my inner self, my imagination, and thoughts.
I want my art to reveal an inner universe of emotions and sensations - like an eternal dream. »
Karina Yacoubian is a visual artist whose abstract work explores the relationship between color and movement, alongside the balance of structure and freedom. Her compositions maintain a strong connection to the imaginary and the intuitive, unfolding at the intersection of geometry and gesture, order and emotion. From an early age, the artist showed a deep interest in drawing, art history, and architecture—three languages that continue to define her creative universe. She studied Interior Design at ORT University in Montevideo, Uruguay, and later Architecture at the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Although academically trained in design and architecture, she is a self-taught painter, guided by curiosity, intuition, and a deeply personal sense of experimentation.
