About this artwork
Forest Nocturne is one of my favourites in the Forest Rhapsody series. It’s subtle but distinctive. I get a feeling of something otherworldly when I’m in the forest at night - it’s such a completely different experience than in the daylight hours. Quite mysterious yet calming at the same time. This painting has a lot going on beneath the surface and I hope that energy comes through to the viewers.
Kathy McKnight, a photographer-turned-painter, delves into abstract impressionism through an intriguing dance of oil and cold wax medium. Her style touches on a multi-layered complexity, intricately merging various techniques that echo the captivating light and organic shapes she uncovers in her natural surroundings. Her paintings, deeply rooted in her personal interactions with Mother Nature, evoke a visceral connection, echoing the energy she encounters out in the wild.
