About this artwork
The Forest Rhapsody paintings were first developed from my exploration of working with limited colour palette. “It Started Here” was the first painting in the series. I find the first painting is always elusive because I have set intentions but at the same time I have to explore how the intentions will work. This one took some time. But when I applied the last top layer, I knew the painting was done. This one has probably 40 layers and emanates… a serene and peaceful feeling, often how I feel when I am in the forest.
Kathy McKnight, a photographer-turned-painter, delves into abstract impressionism through an intriguing dance of oil and cold wax medium. Her style touches on a multi-layered complexity, intricately merging various techniques that echo the captivating light and organic shapes she uncovers in her natural surroundings. Her paintings, deeply rooted in her personal interactions with Mother Nature, evoke a visceral connection, echoing the energy she encounters out in the wild.
