About this artwork
I paint in layers, some paintings have over 30 layers. With this painting about halfway through, the iris appeared and I decided the painting was finished. It reminded me of the wild iris’s that flower every spring by our pond. When I’m in the studio I paint intuitively without photo references. Footnote - about a month later after completing this painting, I saw that the yellow wild iris’s had popped up along the edge of our pond in the lower…
