When Katia Bellini paints, she feels the necessity to balance abstract and representational styles using both contemporary and traditional methods. She utilizes botanical illustrations and natural scenes for her serene and ethereal compositions. In her portraiture series, Bellini offers her take on historical paintings, partly erasing some elements in order to create something entirely new. With oils, she paints visible brushstrokes, giving an unfinished quality to her compositions.
