This abstract work, which was painted horizontally mainly in fiery orange, as well as light and dark red oil colors, may perhaps evoke the association of a landscape. This picture has a strong surface structure, in which underlying layers of color are also visible and can be perceived as lively and shimmering. A spatial depth is revealed optically and new associations arise again and again with this intense play of colors in red.

Katrin Tavernini is an experienced painter, draftsman and graphic artist based in Germany whose work has been exhibited nationally as well as in France, the United States, Singapore, Denmark, Lithuania and Japan. Tavernini's bold compositions focus on depictions of monochrome fields of color, mostly created with acrylic paints on cotton canvases and intensified by the incorporation of pigments. Seeing and perceiving differences is just as much a part of this as the realization that art or painting is a part of life and reflects life itself.
