About this artwork
Here you can see a 3-part work, i.e. each part of the picture has the dimensions (H=145cm, W=115cm, D=2cm), this "Triptych WHITE" was created in 2023 and belongs to my series "Large monochrome colors".
The work went through many phases during the work process to arrive at the final version that can be seen here. The triptych has its origins in Christian altarpieces, which inspired me to design this work in this way, and this should also be taken… into account when looking at the work.
This triptych, dominated by white, contains traces of seemingly random gestural brushstrokes that gain in significance when viewed for a longer period of time and intentionally allow for possibilities of interpretation. This work is therefore a calm eye-catcher on the one hand, but also a contemplative little cosmos. The acrylic painting technique and the incorporated white pigments, which loosen up the surface, create tension even on the monochrome white surface.

« I always look for the clear, the minimal in art and have found a direct means of expressing myself through pure color. »
Katrin Tavernini is an experienced painter, draftsman and graphic artist based in Germany whose work has been exhibited nationally as well as in France, the United States, Singapore, Denmark, Lithuania and Japan. Tavernini's bold compositions focus on depictions of monochrome fields of color, mostly created with acrylic paints on cotton canvases and intensified by the incorporation of pigments. Seeing and perceiving differences is just as much a part of this as the realization that art or painting is a part of life and reflects life itself.
