About this artwork
I was contemplating the shape of sounds, their duration and inner textures, and how every note successively effects the next. Twisting and swivelling the brush to extend and compress the bristle density, the transverse marks within the brush strokes both represented the idea and is a visual, almost ‘graphic’ fascination.
Set on a textured field of transparent printed black, the colour lights in the motifs are integral to the solid red in opaque white,… warmed by primrose yellow.
