About this artwork
This monochromatic painting was made using my favorite color. I can’t say I fully know why I love blue so much. It may be that it soothes my soul, or that it resonates best with my moody personality, I suppose. We have a full male figure, perhaps in a sorrowful or reposeful state, that is being enveloped by a dark blue shadow.

Kevin Pham (b. 1990) is an American self-taught artist living in Portugal who has become a full-time painter in 2025. With oil paint as his preferred medium, he primarily explores themes of beauty and sensitivities of men in the form of portraits or full figures. Kevin enjoys combining elements of realism for his subjects that are placed in abstracted backgrounds. He uses impasto techniques to describe the form and light as well as give texture to the male portrait and figure. Additionally, he is interested in playing with color and tones to convey emotions of awe and mystery.
