About this artwork
This painting was created in 2020 as a response to the personal and global issues I was trying to process at the time.
The figures in this painting are intertwined helping each other yet sometimes to the point of discomfort. Often, close relationships between people can be detrimental even when the intentions are good. I'm fascinated by how complex and sensitive people are and how often I am afraid of being vulnerable.
I was also thinking about… how intertwined people across the planet are and how we are becoming more connected through technology.
This painting was created with high quality oil paints and professional stretcher bars. I also used many transparent layers of oil paint, which create dense rich colors which really glow in person.

« I believe the job of an artist is to feel everything as intensely as possible and then to channel those emotions into a medium for translation. »
Kiera Stuart is an award-winning artist based in the United States whose paintings have been exhibited nationally. Through her works, she processes her personal struggles, experiences, body, and identity as a queer woman, as well as the human condition. For Stuart, creating organic linear patterns is a meditative process. Her striking abstractions and figurative works are translated via acrylics and oils on canvas.
