About this artwork
Inspired by recent trip to Tokyo, Kimbal was inspired by the busy and colourful information at every corner and he wanted to capture the idea of city in a constant state of flux. The painting is a dance of colour, shapes morph into each other and create a dreamlike imaginary space.
The painting is highly glossy and is made with many layers of a translucent mixture of varnish and oil paint, which creates an incredible sense of depth of colour throughout… the painting.

Kimbal Bumstead is an experienced artist from the United Kingdom whose work has been featured in solo and group shows internationally. After seeing Mark Rothko's paintings as a child, Bumstead was moved by them and inspired to create art himself, performing and capturing traces of everyday life through his practice. Using oil paints, he builds layers of bright colors and geometric forms to create vibrant abstract works influenced by both real and imagined spaces.
