« For me, painting is a form of storytelling that uses color, mark-making, gesture and paint. I aim to create engaging and joyful works that lead the viewer on a journey of individual interpretation. »
Kirsty Black is an abstract artist who hails from New Zealand and has exhibited in both solo and group events. She brings elements of catharsis and joy to her narrative works, believing in the importance of daydreaming and personal interpretation. Black predominantly uses acrylics with some elements of mixed media. Beginning in a spontaneous fashion, her mark-making becomes more considered as the piece develops. She prefers painting larger compositions on canvas or plywood panel.
