About this artwork
Black contemporary art rich in texture inspired by volcanic landscapes in Iceland. Basaltic lava flow solidified forming columns like for example in the beaches of Vik and in Thingvellir National Park. This painting has important relief, partly 3D effects, giving interesting light and depth. Strong contrast between rough and smooth, thick and thin surface.
Theme «Earth and Fire Elements». Multi layers of quality acrylic paint , sand and texture… medium. Finished with a layer of semi gloss varnish to protect the painting from UV rays and dust. Painted on gallery wrapped canvas, stretched on wooden frame and stapled on the back, the edges are painted in black. Framing is not required and the artwork comes “ready to hang”. Klara Gunnlaugsdottir is an experienced artist with international exposure. Her works are held in private collections worldwide. Her work is abstract in style and made using acrylic and mixed media techniques. With multiple layers of paint and different texture mediums, she builds depth and texture onto the canvas. She is primarily inspired by the natural world, especially the landscapes of her native Iceland. Like nature, her work depicts the opposition between light and dark, rough and smooth, thick and thin.
