About this artwork
Not that long ago, people used to believe in thunder stones. Weird stones, which were found in fields, were supposed to keep bad luck away, and especially ensure that the house won't get hit by lightning during a storm.
These stones were actually prehistoric artifacts, which makes it even more bizarre.
I took this as a source of inspiration in one of my ritual series paintings. I am deeply fascinated by the way, how human imagination works and… how rituals and traditions are made.

Klara Sedlo is a Czech painter whose work has been exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions across the world. In her art, humor and horror all mix with kitsch. Sedlo’s themes center around the futility and hypocrisy of trying to cover up the darker parts of life with falsity, while also capturing the absurdity and fun of it all. She creates using oil and acrylics, as well as pencil, ink and spray paint.
