Birgit Maaß works conceptually and combines traditional painting, the expanded concept of sculpture and the participation of the viewer in a new way. Her work deals with our existence and its perception in society. The idea pretends the media, she gets the ingredients and translates it into her visual language. Her painting is abstract and spontaneous, layered pastose or glazed several times with acrylic and oil paints, adding sometimes charcoal and chalk.
